Samy’s Camera Outreach happily donated a semester photography course to Kingsley Elementary, a 500-student LAUSD school in East Hollywood.
The school’s dedicated principal Karina Salazar works hard to provide Kingsley’s students with quality education and enrichment opportunities. Kingsley Elementary boasts dual-language instruction, a writing workshop, in-school orchestra, design and technology integration, and a garden classroom.
Principal Salazar requested Samy’s Camera Photo Camp at Kingsley this year. When parents expressed difficulty affording the classes, Samy offered to provide the course at no charge. Students received eight weeks of photography instruction, concluding in a lavish graduation ceremony with refreshments, a slideshow, and a gallery show of the students’ work.
Principal Salazar thanked Samy’s Camera for “giving students the opportunity to express their ideas and creativity by enabling them to discover another way to view the world.”
I would like to thank the students for all their hard work, the parents for their support and encouragement, and Principal Salazar for all she does on behalf of her 500 students.
